Panic, Confusion As Soldiers Sent To Combat ND Avengers Shoot Randomly At Villagers

Soldiers sent to Oporoza community, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, started shooting indiscriminately at about 8.44 am, causing more confusion in the town.

Villagers, who ran into the forest on sighting them with gunboats are yet to return, as the soldiers are in search of ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, A.K.A Tompolo, and members of the Niger Delta Avengers.

Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, told Vanguard on phone at about 9.00 am: “Soldiers have started shooting in Oporoza as I speak to you now, I do not know the casualty, but they are shooting right now, the whole town is in turmoil.”

His said: “I am crying on behalf of my people, we have been saying before now that we do not know what the military is looking for in Oporoza, they have come two times before now in the last few weeks. We said then that they were looking for excuse to start shooting, now they are shooting, we do not know what will happen after the shooting.”

Mr. Austin Ozobo, the national President of Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, also raised the alarm that soldiers were shooting in Oporoza and called on the Federal Government to call the soldiers to order.

A villager said: “The military is currently shooting randomly in Oporoza but we do not know whether it was aimed at anybody because we are still in the forest. We ran into the forest this morning”

Nollywood Actor, Yemi Solade Compares Cynthia Morgan to a Cow

Yoruba Actor, Yemi Solade yesterday took to his instagram shade to throw a heavy subtle shade at Dancehall artiste – Cynthia Morgan . He posted a side by side picture of Cynthia Morgan with a Cow and captioned it “COWsquare” . He was referring to the fact that Cynthia’s had a nose ring on in the picture…same as the cow. His reasons and intentions for pulling this is unknown, but Yemi claims he never knew Cynthia Morgan was an Entertainer. No Cooking With Fire This Sunday in Benin City Due to Funeral Rites ofthe Late Oba

As part of activities for the continuation of the 15 days funeral rites of late Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, residents in Benin kingdom have been told not to cook with fire on Sunday 5th June. It is the day of Igberimwin in the royal funeral rites programme. A press statement signed by Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Mr. Frank Irabor said the cooking without fire was in accordance with Benin customs and tradition.
