The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to serve as ad hoc staff during the Local Government General Elections which have been scheduled to take place in Delta State on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

Eligibility : Candidates for this position must have attained the level of: Senior staff of tertiary institutions not below the rank of senior lecturer and preferably professor or full-time religious leaders not below the position of parish priest or district overseer.

Ward Returning OfficerEligibility :

Candidates for this position must be: Serving public servants not below Grade Level 12.

Supervisory Presiding OfficerEligibilityCandidates for this position must be a: Serving public servants not below Grade Level 12.

Presiding OfficerEligibilityCandidates for this position must be: Public servants on GL 10 and above.

Poll ClerkEligibility : Candidates for this position must be: Serving public servants on GL 08 and above.

Poll OrderlyEligibility : Candidates for this position must be: Serving public servants on GL 06 and above.

Method of Application :Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications which must be in applicants’ handwriting, should be signed, addressed and submitted to any of the Chief Electoral Officers of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission at the nearest Local Government Offices of the Commission.OrThe Secretary to the Commission,Delta State Independent Electoral Commission,Km 8, Asaba/Onitsha Expressway,Asaba.

An application should include two recent passport photographs (with candidate’s name at the back), letter, of recommendation from the applicant’s professional Head of Department reflecting the name of the applicant, rank and department or ministry.

The recommendation must be on the official letter-head, signed, stamped and showing the name and rank/position of the Head of Department.

Note:Public servants in this advertisement means those in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal and Delta State Governments, excluding political office holders.

Successful candidates will be given specialised training.

Please note that submission of an application does not automatically qualify an applicant for employment.

No Cooking With Fire This Sunday in Benin City Due to Funeral Rites ofthe Late Oba

As part of activities for the continuation of the 15 days funeral rites of late Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, residents in Benin kingdom have been told not to cook with fire on Sunday 5th June. It is the day of Igberimwin in the royal funeral rites programme. A press statement signed by Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Mr. Frank Irabor said the cooking without fire was in accordance with Benin customs and tradition.
