Many described 2014 as a season of album release for Nigerian stars. They made a loud noise about their albums, wanting both fans and critics to know that they still have what it takes and should be respected. In return, the fans expected more and coupled with the hype from some of the biggest names in the industry, people’s hopes rose to the high heavens. Then the albums started to drop and we were disappointed and fed up. This article will focus on some of the albums with the highest hype that failed to impress in 2014.
2FACE IDIBIA’S ASCENSION
This was touted as one of the biggest albums that will be released in Nigeria in 2014 and considering the calibre of the artiste and his achievements, one wouldn’t say the album was over hyped. Ascension was 2face’s sixth studio album and despite all the noise that was made about it, the album just failed to impress the fans and improve the singers failing ratings.
WIZKID’S AYO
This was one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Having taken four years after his debut album to release ‘Ayo’, the whole industry wanted to feel that Wizkid effect. There were promises of featuring popular and established American artistes but when the album dropped, apart from ‘Show me the money’ and a few others, fans were not just feeling Wizzy.
P-SQUARE’S DOUBLE TROUBLE
We all know P-square and what they can do when they are in their elements but lately, it seems like age has caught up with the duo. Their sixth very promoted album couldn’t match any other of their album’s success.
M.I’S CHAIRMAN
What is happening to the chairman? His flow seemed forced and he seems to be losing that touch that we all loved. The Chairman Album with all it’s hype didn’t get as much acceptance as we expected
