Crashed AirAsia Flight QZ8501: Bodies Found Holding Hands [PHOTOS]

The first bodies recovered from the AirAsia disaster have arrived in the Indonesian city of Surabaya where relatives have gathered.

Two coffins labelled 001 and 002 contained the bodies – one male and one female – the first remains recovered from crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501.

Soon after their arrival the bodies were rushed to a hospital in Surabaya. So far, four male and three female bodies have been found. Five remain on ships at sea owing to heavy rain impairing visibility.

It was more than two days after AirAsia flight QZ8501 disappeared en-route from Indonesia’s second largest city Surabaya to Singapore that aerial searchers found wreckage and bodies floating in the Java Sea.

The plane carrying 162 people crashed southwest of the island of Borneo, with debris including an exit door and a blue suitcase so far retrieved from the area.

One of the seven bodies recovered from the AirAsia crash may be that of Kevin Alexander Soetjipto, a financial services student at Melbourne’s Monash University.
