A 24-year old house wife, Malama Maryam Abubakar of Kwarin Dangoma, Tukur-Tukur District, in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State has given birth to quadruplets.

DAILY POST gathered that Malama Maryam delivered the four baby boys at Layin Sarki Primary Health Centre, in Tudun-Wada, Zaria.

The Matron of the health care centre, Hajiya Zulaiha Muhammad said the woman delivered the first baby at about 4:00am on Monday, second one 4:40a.m., third one 5:10am while the fourth baby was delivered at about 5:20am.

According to her, the mother of the children was confirmed to be in a healthy condition after giving birth to the quadruplets.

She, however, said considering the weight of the babies ranging from 1Kg, 1.1Kg, 1Kg and 1.2Kg and their mode of breathing, “I referred them to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria for medical attention.

“To God be the glory, I believe they are now responding to treatment at ABUTH,” said the Matron.

When contacted at the hospital, mother of the babies, Malama Maryam Abubakar, said two of the four babies later died, while the remaining two were still alive.

She said, “I am about 24 years old, it took me about ten years after marriage before I gave birth to my first child, this is my second birth.

“I thank God Almighty for blessing me with quadruplets in my second birth, as I am talking to you now, I am hale and healthy. The remaining two babies are still alive and doctors are taking very good care of them.”

All efforts to speak with ABUTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Lawal Khalid and the father on the matter was unsuccessful.
