Rapper The Game Donates $1m To Flint, And Shows Off His $13m Account Balance

Jayceon Taylor, the rapper also known as ‘The Game,’ is known as one of the key players in bringing the modern West Coast rap scene into mainstream hip-hop. He is also known for being a total baller. Now he’ll be known as something of a philanthropist, too.

The widespread lead poisoning in Flint, Michigan, has raised great concerns. Recently, experts confirmed that about 8,000 children under the age of six who drank city’s water supply, which has extremely high levels of lead, may have suffered permanent brain damage. To help save more children from this damage, celebrities have been donating money or bottled water to the city.

However, the scale of relief efforts is yet to meet the need. Yesterday, rapper The Game joined the drive by donating $1m to the city and half of the money came from his personal bank account.

But while making that pledge, the rapper called out celebrities Jimmy Fallon and Madonna for their “cute” $10,000 donations, challenging them to match his donation.

“I just figured Madonna has gotta be close to a billionaire,’ The Game told TMZ. “I just thought that the $10,000 was sort of a joke to me. No one else has to share that opinion or feel like that. I just felt like if we’re going to donate some water, let’s donate some water.”

‘You got all these water companies all around the world, and people saying they’re donating water, but don’t even know how hard it is to get water into Michigan because of what’s going on with the snow and blizzards and all of that,” The Game continued. “I figured we’d partner up with Avita because they were right there in Michigan and we could sort of expedite the process.”

Next, the rapper shared a screenshot of the transfer he made to the water company without masking his bank account, and it caused a row on his page as many people called out his bragging.

But the rapper didn’t apologise for that. In his conversation with TMZ, he explained why he had to share his bank details. “It’s been 13 years,” he told TMZ. “I think I kind of earned it at this point.”
