Above is an election campaign poster of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the highly heated presidential election in Nigeria last year, 2015.
The poster promises a 24-hour supply of electricity which has been a historical challenge in Nigeria since the adoption of democracy in the year 1999. Although this wasn't stated on the All Progressives Congress's party manifesto in a verbatim form, Nigerians are currently licking their wounds as a result of reduced power supply and a 45% increment in electricity tariffs.
The power generation in the country currently stands at 1,400 Megawatts which is a far cry from the minimum of 25,000MW needed to illuminate the 36 states in Nigeria with a population of over 170 million.
