The Nigerian Army Saturday announced the forced retirement of some senior officers in what appears to be a major shake up in the army to weed out corrupt personnel following their indictment in ongoing arms deal probe, dubious roles in the last general elections, as well as investigations into corrupt practices in the military by the present administration.  A statement signed by the acting director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said those retired for “service exigencies” include “Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels and a Major.” The statement obtained by THEWILL on Friday reads in part: “Those retired were mainly some Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels and a Major. Their retirement was based on Service exigencies. Coach Amodu  Shaibu  on time manages of the Nigerian Super Eagles and Technical Director of the NFF is dead. Amodu Shaibu died in Benin three days after the death of former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi, who also died in Benin. Reports have it that Shaibu Amodu complained of chest pains on Friday night and died in his sleep.

Wife of ace actor, Jide Kosoko, Henrietta, passed away two days ago after a long battle with diabetes. Encomium Weekly paid a condolence visit to the Kosoko’s Lagos residence at Bariga yesterday and met the widower looking distraught as he was talking with some colleagues and movie marketers, about his wife’s death. Jide Kosoko reportedly said, “I went to a particular event on Monday (June 6), I was not aware that my wife was dead until the person that was with me asked me to check the rumours flying around the social media about my wife’s death. Nigerian player Lucky Omeruo on Monday, June 6 wedded his fiancée Dorsy Chuks in a ceremony that was held in Netherlands.
