US President, Barack Obama was given a euphoric welcome to his father’s homeland of Kenya when Air Force One touched down today – with an extra special moment coming on the tarmac as he was reunited with his half-sister. The President is visiting the country where his father, Barack Obama Sr, was born and raised with the intention of boosting trade and security ties with east African nations. Half-sister Auma Obama and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta joining a host of other top officials to greet him upon his arrival before whisking him through the capital Nairobi.

Big Brother Africa will not be coming off this year due to inability of the organizers of the show, Africa Magic and Endemol’s to get sponsorship for the show. In an exclusive interview with Manager of Multi Choice Ghana, Anne Sackey, she confirmed to Razz Newspaper that they at Multi Choice Ghana have received notice from MNET that this year’s edition of Big Brother Africa will not come off. She explained that MNET did not give them any reasons as to why they will not be doing the Big Brother this year, but then, she personally thinks it’s due to sponsorship constraints. “They didn’t give us any reason though, but I think it’s mainly because of cash constraints as we all know the show is very expensive to put up ” she said. American controversial rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested in Sweden for allegedly driving under the influence of illegal drugs. The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ hitmaker was pulled over and taken into a police station where he was forced to take a urine test following his show in Copenhagen as officers believed he had been using illegal drugs Daniel Nilsson – police spokesman for the Uppsala region – said in a statement: “Police carrying out roadside controls noticed that Snoop Dogg (whose car was pulled over) seemed to be under the influence of narcotics. “He was arrested and taken to the police station to take a urine test.” The entire incident is only believed to have lasted “several minutes” as the test results were not immediately available, meaning he has been released while testing is carried out. Today, NASA announced that scientists have found an Earth-like planet, Kepler-452b about 1,400 light years away from us. This new Earth-twin exists at such a distance from a star Kepler 452, where water could exist. This discovery (and more) is a result of about analysis of four years’ data from the Kepler Space Telescope which has been looking for Earth-like planets orbiting other stars similar to our Sun. This Earth-like planet, or what people are calling Earth 2.0, orbits its star in a habitable zone i.e. a region where water could exist in liquid state. During its four year work, Kepler Space Telescope found about 500 exoplanets, out of which 12 are of size comparable to the Earth. This Earth-like planet receives about 10 percent more light than Earth currently does and in another 1.5 billion years, Earth will receive the same amount of sunlight. The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, has announced that prospective corps members that are pregnant and nursing babies have been barred from participating in the national service across the country. The DG in a statement made available to journalists today also said students undergoing post-graduate studies in institutions of higher learning have also been barred. He said those affected need not bother to enlist for service “until they are free to participate effectively.”

The whereabouts of a three-year-old boy, Mubarak Ogunlewe, who lives in Papa Alfa, Asese-Ibafo, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, is still unknown a month after he went missing. It was learnt that Ogunlewe had been living with his aunt, Alhaja Taibat Bello, since March last year when his parents divorced.
