We just received reports that the Egypt Air plane (MS 804) that went missing this morning has now been found.
The aircraft which lost contact with air traffic control around 2am (Cairo Local Time) had 66 people on board and was en route Cairo from Paris.
The Vice President of Egypt Air Ahmed Adel told CNN‘s Christiane Amanpour that the plane has been found north of the Egyptian coast.
According to the Egypt's envoy to France, Greek authorities found blue and white debris, which is the colour of the missing aircraft with No. MS 804 near Karpathos Island.
"All I will say is that our embassy in Athens told us that it was contacted by Greek authorities who signalled that they found white and blue debris corresponding to EgyptAir's colours," Reuters quoted Egyptian ambassador to France, Ehab Badawy.
"I can't confirm it is the debris, but it would be reasonable to think it is the debris of this plane," he said.
Family members of passengers and crew have been informed of the development.
Our hearts go out to the families of the victims during these trying times.
